"Which is the properest day to sing?"
Oh, any day is fine by me... (no, I don't quite have the reference but I'll run with it anyway...)
Actually, what's the biggest difference culturally about the area/people that you've noticed since you moved to Seattle?
I think that West Coast laid-back attitude, so often stereotypically applied to Californians, does extend this far north and then some. This has two big benefits. One, the incredible mess that is Seattle traffic has so far not led to the road rage (both internal and external) I'm so familiar with back east, for which I'm eternally grateful. Two, I'm finding it easier to make friends here, even though I'm not spending every free moment socializing (and as a result I don't feel like I'm overscheduling myself so badly, the way I used to feel like I was doing back in Rochester).
As the winter clears up and I get to know more people better I think I'll discover more differences but for now that's the big one.

Aug. 20th, 2005 01:40 pmGo to musicoutfitters.com, and do a search on the most popular 100 songs from the year you graduated high school. (You can do this by searching on the year you graduated). Bold the ones you actually like. (Understand that the word "like" in this case means, in the very least, "wouldn't immediately change the radio station from.") Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite. And strikethrough the ones you loathe.
kshandra's wrinkle: Italicize the ones you consider to be guilty pleasures.

Jul. 21st, 2005 01:33 amCopy your friends list and bold the ones you have met in real life, and italicize the ones you have only talked with on the phone. Anybody you have only spoken to online, do nothing to their names. If any of your friends has multiple journals, list only one.

Whose First Line Is it Anyway?
Jan. 9th, 2005 10:00 pmInteresting meme from
robearal. The first line of each month of 2004 from my journal:
1. Last night
gmjambear and I shuffled off to Buffalo to see the Sabres vs. the Ottawa Senators.
2. School and Year you graduated: Elder High School 1983
3. From
hylandr,
robearal and others: Flashback Meme
4. On Saturday
gmjambear and I decided to have dinner at a nearby Pizza Hut.
5. Found an interesting definition (in a slightly different context) of the term twink.
6. Picture of the LJers at Zelda's I mentioned in yesterday's post.
7. Hope y'all had a Happy Canada Day! ;-)
8. My PC at home suddenly decided not to power up today.
9. We had our first RGMC rehearsal this evening.
10. Well, I had to correct the spelling of "Nick Tahou's", but other than that it seems fairly accurate...
11. More Americans than I expected devalue intelligence and fairness, it is clear from the fact that both Bush and the "no-gay-marriage" amendments appear to have prevailed in this election.
12. Note: I probably have the names wrong, and the dialogue is guaranteed not to be verbatim, but this is pretty much what I heard yesterday morning on Air America Radio affiliate WROC-AM.

How far I've come...
Jan. 7th, 2005 11:17 pm1. Go To Mapquest.com
2. Click on Directions
3. Enter your current address and the address of your childhood home (or at least the town if you don't remember the exact address)
4. Put the time and distance in a post like this.
Total Est. Time: 7 hours, 54 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 508.60 miles
(p.s. If you do this, and leave it as a public post, it's probably a good idea NOT to include the link to the MapQuest directions, unless you want to broadcast your address to the Whole Wide World...)
