SUNDAY
Gary didn't sleep very well. I got up to use the bathroom about quarter to two and noticed he'd fallen asleep with all the lights going, so I turned them off, but he woke up shortly afterward and surfed the net on his phone in bed. I woke up again around seven and he was still at it, so when I got back to bed, I suggested he put it down and try to get some sleep, and when the alarm went off at 8:30 I let him sleep for almost another hour while I showered and dressed. I also checked my messages and found Sheila was planning to pick up Dad at three, so I planned to call from the house.

We went downstairs for breakfast and watched a locally produced show called Parade of Quartets which featured gospel music. About noon we checked the room and found the cleaning crew at work, so we hung out on the patio outside the pool and I caught up on my journal while Gary surfed the net. When we returned to the room around 12:30 the crew had finished servicing the room, this time changing out the bed linens stained from my banged-up leg.

We left about one for the house, where we chatted with Darnell for a while as Marcellus (one of the young relatives who was helping Damon pack up the sound system last night) and his girlfriend Jasmine alternately looked on and checked out something on Jasmine's phone. Marcellus has some Chinese characters tattooed in broad strokes on his shoulder. Eventually they left for the trip back to Jacksonville, Florida, and we sat down to lunch from the leftovers of last night's dinner: fried chicken breast, green beans, mac & cheese, and vegetable medley.

After lunch we returned to the living room to chat with Darnell and Mike. About ten to four, I took a few moments to call Sheila and wish the family in Cincinnati a Happy Easter, chatting with Dad at length (today would have been Mom's 92nd birthday, and he told me every time the date appeared on the scoreboard during the ball game he was watching, he sang Happy Birthday to her) and then briefly sharing with Sheila my idea about printing T-shirts for Dad's birthday party in August. After passing along Easter greetings in both directions, I sat with Gary and continued our conversation while half watching Madea's Big Happy Family (2011) which Gary compared to Soul Food with Madea plopped in the middle of it. It turns out Rahmik printed the T-shirts himself, so I think I'll be looking for a supplier in the Seattle area.

Around 6:15 Lillie boxed up more leftovers for our dinner and filled an old Sprite bottle with sweet tea, and we said our farewells and returned to the hotel. As we passed the front desk I mentioned we would need to check out about 1:30 AM and verified that would be OK. We watched the tail end of the film and switched to Sunday Night Baseball, Atlanta vs. Cleveland. Around 7:30 I heated up dinner in the microwave and was in bed by 8:30, falling asleep despite the lights and TV going.
