Persistence pays off
Oct. 10th, 2007 11:16 pmIn a recent post I recounted the difficulties I had in bringing back a Sun Ultra 5 workstation I bought "as-is" from the local computer recycler.
As it happens, persistence has paid off. I replaced the serial cable not once but twice, and re-seated the CPU module. This has brought back the system enough that I am at the moment loading Solaris 10 onto the hard drive, using a serial connection to my laptop to monitor the process. Woohoo! Next step will be to hook up a video monitor and keyboard and put it on the network.
