Vegas Trip Day 3
Mar. 4th, 2018 11:59 pmI had set my alarm for 6:30 AM but ended up waking up about ten to six to use the bathroom, so I shut it off. I laid out my clothes for the day and folded everything else to pack, then showered. While Gary was in the shower I went down to the casino floor to break a couple of $20 bills for tips to the housekeeper and the shuttle driver, and was amazed at the quiet after the noise and bustle of the previous evening.
We ended up having to pay a new fare for the shuttle since Expedia scheduled our ride for 7:20 AM and we were told on arrival they didn't start until 9. At least the driver was nice about it and deserves a good word. We checked our bag and got TSA Pre-Check so security went fairly quickly despite the volume of people, once a nice-looking young TSO figured out we needed to form four lines instead of one. We caught the tram out to the D concourse and had just enough time for bagel sandwiches and fruit cups before we had to be at the gate for boarding.
We were seated in the back corner of the aircraft, in a row with no window. Three cute bears in consecutive rows on the aisle: a red cub with a lot of ink on his left arm; a black dude with a trim beard matching his close-cropped hair; and Gary. Across the aisle was a reddish-blond cub wearing a T-shirt advertising Alaska Youth Rugby; he spent much of the flight doubled over in pain from what appeared to be a back injury, turning his head to one side and bracing his shoulder on the seat in front of him. He seemed better when we were off the plane though.
We claimed our bag, sat in the back car of the train to ID station and caught another Double Tall at Union Station. After arriving at Ash Way to retrieve the car, we drove to DXL in Lynnwood so we could replace Gary's broken belt and my worn-out sneakers, and I also picked up a pair of black loafers for work and some performances. We had an early dinner at Jersey Mike's at Everett Mall, before returning home to unpack and unwind with more hockey and occasional snippets of the Academy Awards.
