Friday I spent trying to tie up loose ends at work and getting a blood test for an upcoming doctor's visit, before our first performance of Queer Eye for the Holidays. I think our performance Friday was the best it's been in a while, though we were a little shaky on "Blessed Now Are We" from the Rachmaninoff Choral Vespers.

Saturday was rather crazy:
  • First, [livejournal.com profile] gmjambear and I attended the "Celebration of New Ministry" for Rev. Michael Hopkins (past president of Integrity) as the Rector of the church where D-I worships, St. Luke and St. Simon Cyrene in downtown Rochester.
  • Next, we made food for the Empire Bears' potluck dinner, which had been moved to 4 PM to accommodate the large and growing number of Bear Chorines. Gary and I thought to take separate cars so he could stay at the Bear festivities while I prepared for the Saturday performance, but his car blew a tire and so I came back home and picked him up. When it came time for me to go to the concert hall, I let Gary drop me off so he could finish with dinner and meet me afterward.
  • Finally, the second performance of Queer Eye for the Holidays came off very well to a nearly sold-out crowd. Gary mentioned his take on the performance in his journal.

By the way, before the concert I finally got my CDs from the June concert featuring "I Am With You Always", along with a CD of Friday night's performance -- damn, that was quick. Once the performance was over we got home and kind of collapsed on the bed, listening to the June CD until we fell asleep.

Sunday turned out to be a grueling work day for me. We were scheduled to move servers from the Hawk-Eye building across town to my current work place. Since I never got a badge for the Hawk-Eye building I went in about 10 AM to wait for the truck and the other guys to show up. It turned out they'd been delayed an hour or two loading the truck, so I went out to lunch. By the time I got back the move was in full gear.
About 4:40 PM after trying to solve several of the problems that cropped up, I checked my phone and found that Gary had already left for church on foot. (It's not that far, about three or four blocks.) So I tried as best I could to disentangle myself for a while and arrived at church to pick up Gary about ten after six. We came home, had dinner, and changed Gary's tire so he could get to work in the morning. Then I returned to the office to see how the move was progressing. Big mistake -- I didn't get out of there until 1 AM and my colleague Jerry was still working when I left. We wrote e-mail to our boss explaining we would not be in the office today barring an emergency. When I got home about 1:30 I collapsed on the bed and was awakened about 11:30 by Brandy needing to go out.

Committed? Over-committed? Ought-to-be committed? ;-) I won't even venture a guess at this point.

A penguin is driving through the middle of nowhere when his car breaks down. Fortunately the car made it to this tiny little town, and the lone mechanic takes a look at the car and points the penguin to the ice cream parlor across the street. Now penguins love ice cream, especially vanilla ice cream, but it tends to make a mess all over them, so when the penguin went back to see about his car he had vanilla ice cream all over his mouth and down his front.

The mechanic took one look at the penguin and said, "Looks like you blew a seal."
And the penguin said... )
