Stalker From Beyond the Grave
May. 27th, 2004 11:18 pmJust a couple of notes from our rehearsals, both last weekend's extravaganza at Camp Stella Maris (for some reason I tend to focus in on the "Stella" part and end up doing a strangled imitation of Marlon Brando as Stanley Kowalski: "STELLA!!!!"), and this evening's rehearsal.
First off, over the weekend we were rehearsing "They Live In You" (which we are singing as part of a medley from The Lion King). I remarked to Chris (![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
jockbearwny), "Who or what are we supposed to be singing about? Parasites?" ;-)
Of course, I got my comeuppance when Chris and a few other chorines came back with a remark about my song "I Am With You Always" as being about the Stalker From Beyond the Grave. My original vision was a lover comforting his partner at his impending demise, and I later realized the sentiment is also suitable for liturgical use on or around Ascension Thursday ("Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." -- Matt. 28:20). However, I sort of anticipated this, even adding "whenever you are willing" to the text (although that undermines its liturgical aspect a bit). Still, I took it in good humor and had a laugh at my own expense.
Finally, this evening Nick (our conductor) pointed out that the word "remember" (which occurs in my song as well) is properly pronounced "ruh-MEM-ber" and not "REE-MEM-ber". It occurred to me that the latter pronunciation could be applied to renewing one's membership in a club, or what the surgeons did to John Bobbitt after that unfortunate incident with his wife. ;-)
Ah well, time to pack up for Trawna tomorrow. See y'all soon.
