Rehearsal tonight
We had our first RGMC rehearsal this evening. Had a brief chat with
jockbearwny and his friends J. Lo and Markis Maximus as he calls them in his own journal. J. Lo, whom I hadn't met before, is new to Chorus; Markis, whom I know from years back, is returning. In fact, Markis and I share the same birthday (with yet another Chorine). It was fun to meet Jay and catch up with Markis.
We're doing three carol arrangements by Mark Riese, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "I Saw Three Ships", and "What Child Is This?", affectionately known collectively as "Riese's Pieces". ;-) Also at least a good chunk of Britten's Ceremony of Carols and a couple of selections from Rachmaninoff.
It will be strange working with neither Nick (our music director) nor Tim (our accompanist) as both are taking a leave of absence this holiday season. In their place will be Nick's assistant, Rob, as conductor, and the new organist and choir director at Downtown United Presbyterian Church where we rehearse as accompanist.
It's good to be back. This will be a fun season.
