Rehearsal tonight

We had our first RGMC rehearsal this evening. Had a brief chat with [livejournal.com profile] jockbearwny and his friends J. Lo and Markis Maximus as he calls them in his own journal. J. Lo, whom I hadn't met before, is new to Chorus; Markis, whom I know from years back, is returning. In fact, Markis and I share the same birthday (with yet another Chorine). It was fun to meet Jay and catch up with Markis.

We're doing three carol arrangements by Mark Riese, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "I Saw Three Ships", and "What Child Is This?", affectionately known collectively as "Riese's Pieces". ;-) Also at least a good chunk of Britten's Ceremony of Carols and a couple of selections from Rachmaninoff.

It will be strange working with neither Nick (our music director) nor Tim (our accompanist) as both are taking a leave of absence this holiday season. In their place will be Nick's assistant, Rob, as conductor, and the new organist and choir director at Downtown United Presbyterian Church where we rehearse as accompanist.

It's good to be back. This will be a fun season.

We're doing those arrangements of "God Rest..." and "What Child..." for our December concert too. And we also have that affectionate name for them. ;)

The Riese's Pieces sound like fun. Were fun to practice last night.

Who's idea was it to do the Britten Ceremony of Carols? I LOVE Britten!

Was good to see a couple new faces there as well, and as always, good to see all the old faces. Didn't get nearly enough social time this week to talk to everyone I wanted to.

MORE TALK! LESS SING! Gods I never thought I would say that. When I sing with Eastman, all I want to doo is sing and practice. Could give a crap about Cookie Break and Socialization. Granted it is a perfect place to recruit for the GMC.

Good to see you back guy!
