History has been made tonight

I wasn't even going to watch this game, but I went out for dinner wearing a Toronto Argonauts T-shirt with a helmet on it, and the hostess asked if I wanted to watch the game. I said "Sure", thinking "how cool, a CFL game" and utterly forgetting it was time for NFL Monday Night Football, since out here it starts at 6 PM instead of 9.

So she seated me in the bar area under a wide-screen flat-panel TV. At that point (about halfway through the third quarter) the Cowboys were beating the Redskins 3-0 and within a few minutes had scored a touchdown bringing the score to 10-0. By the time the fourth quarter started I was well into my dinner and didn't see Dallas score an additional field goal.

Then the Redskins pulled the game out of their collective ass. They scored two touchdowns in the latter half of the fourth quarter, the first they had scored since last December, and Dallas failed to get into position for a field goal. For the first time in many years (a diner at the next table said fifteen), the Redskins beat the Cowboys, 14-13.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] gmjambear will be happy to know his Jints beat the Saints, 27-10.

A respectful yea to the Giants considering the Saints were the home team in New Jersey.

So the first game started at 4:30 in the afternoon Pacific Time.
As I told you, it is odd that the Monday Night Football games end arouynd 9:00 on the west coast among other oddities.
