One other item of note, there was a Globe and Mail newspaper headline the other day that said that despite the huffing and puffing of the Conservative Party to re-visit this issue if they reach power, 55% of Canadians polled in a recent survey say they don't want the new law changed.
So, while opposing same-sex marriage may play well to their redneck base in Alberta, it is NOT an issue that they can use to get elected in the rest of Canada.
