Some observations on the Larry Craig scandal

[livejournal.com profile] gmjambear pointed out to me that none of this would be an issue if Senator Tearoom, rather than trolling in an airport bathroom on his way east, had instead come west and made legal and more pleasurable hookups here on Capitol Hill in Seattle. The likelihood of his being recognized by Seattleites would have been fairly low (of course, now that he's gotten his picture plastered all over creation that is clearly no longer true) and his family back in Idaho would have been none the wiser.

A caller on the Ed Schultz show this afternoon observed that now Sen. Craig can with the same word describe himself as well as name his home state. (Who da ho? Idaho.)

Oh, and as I observed with another poster on soc.motss some years ago, it makes no sense for someone in this day and age to claim they have no alternative to the closet -- or, in this case, the water closet.

What ticks me off is that he gave the police his senatorial card, hoping he'd get preferential treatment and the whole thing dropped. Good on the police for not falling for it.

I've been hearing bits and pieces of this story and what strikes me is his continued denial that he is gay, um hello... Trolling for a b/j and 2 guys in a stall, well, that is going down if you ask me. A wide stance when sitting, um, BS on that too.

And if you listen to the sound bite where he tells us he is not gay etc, he almost sounds like he is by how he is enunciating the words.

Closet case anyone?
