Connections, and baseball...

This week brings the welcome news that the Rochester Red Wings (AAA baseball) have signed a new affiliation agreement which, after 42 years, says goodbye to the Baltimore Orioles and hello to... drumroll please...

the Minnesota Twins.

Seeing as several of my and gmjambear's LJ friends, including kj and loganbeary hail from the Twin Cities, this could be described as yet another connection, or just an odd coincidence. But nevertheless I thought it worth noting at any rate.

Yeah, that's more like it! ;-)

The local paper was all full of how well Edmonton is doing this year (winning the Pacific Coast League championship) and how Rochester and Edmonton keep their front-office staff, logos, etc., but essentially swap most if not all of their players. (This assumes Edmonton affiliates with Baltimore. There is a possibility of a three-way swap in which Baltimore takes Ottawa instead, leaving Edmonton with Montreal.)

Besides, maybe that will give us an excuse to come up and see you sometime. ;-)
