Seattle observations

Noticed in passing a bearish Japanese fellow in the park at the base of the Space Needle, and several other bears in the other museums underneath.

The local brand of portable toilets is "Honey Bucket". No shit. ;-)

It is very easy to get lost here. Freeway off-ramps sometimes have no corresponding on-ramps and vice versa; one-way streets sometimes go the same way twice in a row rather than alternating; there's a major bend in the street grid downtown; and there are lots of hills and bodies of water to interrupt streets.

Some streets within residential areas are little more than back alleyways, and can be very steep. Downtown is even worse.

Traffic can be a royal pain. But incredible volumes of traffic seem to be manageable on I-5, especially with the carpool lanes.

Sometimes you meet the most interesting people in hotel pools.

The neighborhood across the Green River from Boeing Field is called South Park, and the drawbridge that connects that area with the Boeing Field area is called the South Park Bridge. Crossing the bridge I ended up saying to myself (in Cartman's voice): "I'm not fat, I'm big-boned!"

Aren't the machines used to suck out septic tanks called "honey dippers"? Or so I thought.
