Calgary Trip Day 6: Monday

Got up at 3:30 to make sure we got to the airport by 5. Gary got tagged for extra screening but at least the CATSA agent who gave him the pat-down was a hot bear. We got through US Customs pre-clearance (the agent was a tall black dude who was also easy on the eyes) and made the trek back to the gate.

We boarded on time, but after perhaps half an hour we were informed our flight would be delayed two hours due to a closed taxiway at Sea-Tac, so we returned to the YYC, USA area of the terminal to wait. We re-boarded at 9:30. There was a nice-looking young bear with a thick black beard wearing a Seahawks ball cap and neon green Seahawks jacket over, alas, a T-shirt with the logo of That School Up North, seated three rows forward of Gary. We taxied out to the end of the airfield alongside a bunch of vintage aircraft and a mishmash of general-aviation aircraft as well, then waited there for about half an hour more before being allowed to take off.

En route, we flew quite a bit further south than normal, catching a nice view of the Columbia Valley and Mount Rainier to our north which is quite unheard of in most of my travels. This was, of course, done because they were still having issues getting planes landed at Sea-Tac. Our final descent brought us over Puget Sound at Redondo Beach in Des Moines. All told, we were about two and a half hours late by the time we parked at the gate. We made our way to baggage claim and then took the free shuttle cart to the Link station because I was having difficulty with my back due to all the walking and especially having to favor my injured shin.

When we got to Everett Station I called us an Uber, the first time I had occasion to use the service at home in Everett. We got home, unpacked, and fell into bed around 5 PM. I was so tired I did not want to get up for dinner when Gary got up around eight, and ended up sleeping for over 12 hours.
