Yes, that Jerry Springer. The Democratic Party in Ohio would really like to see him run for Senate -- after all, his political longevity in the face of scandal is perhaps unprecedented. Go Jerry Go!

He was going to run for something a little while ago, not sure whether it was the Senate or something local in Cincinnati, but he ended up deciding that so many people had a fixed idea of him based on his past and especially because of his show, that they couldn't look past that. *shrug*

On NPR's "This American Life" they did an extensive radio essay about Jerry's past, present and hopeful future. If you check it out, the audio should be available for free listening.

Frankly, he feels he is in contratural-obligation talk show hell, and he would love to be set free in order to return to politics and be taken seriously again.
