Sadly, truth is stranger than fiction, and this is in fact old news. The dateline was March 25, 2002 and apparently the Mirror was one of the last news outlets to carry the story -- gmjambear had seen it on his morning newscast (he works behind the scenes for a local TV station) some days ago.
