Getting Off The Hamster Wheel, for a while

Just decided to take a moment before bed to reflect on something that has been driving me up the proverbial wall the end of last week and the beginning of this week. It appears I've gotten myself on a hamster wheel, between work, chorus, trip preparation, the Bears, and church (I am now the treasurer for our church in addition to my webmaster responsibilities, yay me...). Which leaves precious little time to just be there for [livejournal.com profile] gmjambear, to be silly and snuggly and all that.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Ready or not, we leave for Montreal Saturday morning, and everything important will be done, and everything else will perforce have to wait till I get back. And that's a good thing to know.

But the big ticket items are one by one falling by the wayside -- tonight I got all my church-treasurer backlog done, tomorrow I should have all my Bear stuff out of the way, Thursday is rehearsal, and Friday I have taken off work to assure myself of enough time to pack and prepare for the trip (as in get Brandy to the Puppy Motel in Bristol, etc.)

I am not bringing my laptop to Montreal -- it's a work machine and I plan on not doing any work up there. I will probably carry my cellphone in case of a road emergency, and turn it OFF once we check in until we hit the road coming back. So it will just be me and Gary and "6000 of our nearest and dearest friends" -- and of course the music.

Traditionally at vacation time I send out an e-mail to my colleagues with a subject line of "OOO (Ahh...)" (where "OOO" means "Out Of the Office"). The second part is the more important one this trip. Ahhhhh..... ;-)

Hey Bud

I know how it goes. It is all to easy to get too many 'big rocks' in your jar. I routinely have to can the whole lot and start over gain, picking out whats important.

I'm sure things will be better after Montreal. Heck, I'm sure Montreal will be a blast. Six thousand gay men and women. YEEHAW!!!

Me? I'm OK. I'm just trying to figure out where I'm going to get $1000 for the cherry I need to build the furniture I want for the rec room. Hmm...maybe I need to do the paying jobs first....Yavonditte is first on the list...

Have a great time in M. I'm be at chorus Thursday night, and Eric may come for support as well.

Have a great and wonderful time in Montreal.

Say howdy to Jaques if you see him, and stay away from any thirty-foot long chocolate pigs!
