To a large degree, I would agree w/ ya on that as some insurers, especially those w/ crappy plans to offer don't even allow for pre-existing conditions to be covered.

I've yet to figure out how coverage + overhead + profit is supposed to be less than coverage + overhead.

I'd also add HMO's to that list. As well as the expense, they also limit access and competition.

I totally agree, except in the case of some mutual insurers, like the one my employer funds.
