Not to be mean, but being a WA native and all...

is Snohomish and Snohomish County the white trash part of the state? More and more these offbeat stories are coming out of there.

Oh, I hope not -- [livejournal.com profile] gmjambear and I just moved to SnoCo last fall (Everett is the county seat). But Gold Bar is about as rural as it gets. We travel through there on the way to Kamp Kodiak in the summer.

The mother of the woman who ran the Gold Bar puppy mill ran a kennel of her own in rural Skagit County (that's pronounced with a soft "g" although in this case a hard "g" might sound more appropriate) just north of SnoCo. That kennel appears to be where the puppies from both operations were being sold from. It was also raided and the dogs from there sent to the Skagit County Fairgrounds.

And Enumclaw (home of the stallion who did a man to death) is in far southeast King County, across a river from Pierce County (where Tacoma is county seat).
