Weekend Update
Friday night we sort of vegetated at home.
Saturday we had the Empire Bears potluck dinner, with a theme of "New Recipe Night". Because the usual venue wasn't available (the GAGV changed the locks on the community center building and didn't tell us they'd done so), we had the dinner at the home of two of our members, Jack and Dick. gmjambear) brought a couple of roasted pork butts (I can hear the snickering already... ;-), and I brought Sex in a Pan. (A big thank you to mathan for the recipe. I forgot the chocolate bar so I used rainbow sprinkles instead. My mom wants the recipe, she wants to try making a sugar-free version of it for my dad, who is diabetic.) We got a chance to see hylandr again, which is always a pleasure.
After the potluck we decided to stop in at Bearnight at the Forum, with a theme of "Boxer Shorts Night". Normally we'd go home first to unload leftovers and walk the dog, and once we get home we don't much feel like going back out. So I figured we'd at least make an appearance, and Gary agreed. I decided to go ahead and strip down to show off my new club boxers; Gary was content to drop trou momentarily and then pull 'em back up. Gary and I chatted with a fellow who had written to the Bears from Florida, and I chatted withhylandr a bit until yclept came over. I thought I'd let them alone for a while and see what unfolded. ;-) Eventually Gary got a little tired and we said our goodbyes and went home.
Today I slept a little more than I should have. My back was really sore this morning for whatever reason, and I thought lying on the warm waterbed would help it, and what better way to fall asleep for hours on end? ;-) We went to church for Palm Sunday. (Incidentally, I have it on good authority that while St. Valentine's Day is the religious holiday for couples, the equivalent holiday for single men is... you guessed it... Palm Sunday. [groan]) Afterwards I dropped Gary off at home as he needed to get to sleep early to start work at 3:45 AM, and went to dinner with some of the folks from church as usually happens on a Sunday night.
All in all, not a bad weekend.
