Democrats Abroad, for our expatriates

I was rather stunned to realize that Democrats Abroad are holding their Global Primary on or around Super Tuesday. Unfortunately, the deadline for registering for the primary, by mail/fax or over the Internet, was yesterday, January 31. Not sure whether walk-in polling also requires registration in advance; check Democrats Abroad for details.

Some Democrats abroad are also entitled to vote in the primary of their state of last residence; however, they are *not* entitled to vote in their state AND in the Global Primary.

P.S. Expatriates are US citizens living abroad. Ex-Patriots are guys who used to play football for New England. BTW, Go Jints!

Hey there, Mike. Thanks for mentioning Democrats Abroad and the Global Primary.

I'm happy to say I voted. I'm not sure whether my vote means more in apportioning delegates from the Democrats Abroad quota or if I'd voted absentee in California, but one way or another, I was determined to make sure my voice was included in the process.

One of the few things that makes me happy about the United States these days is that every day brings us closer to the end of the George W Bush nightmare, and I'm fairly sure that January, 2009 will see a milestone in American history with either a black man or a woman being sworn in for the first time as president.

I just get sad, though, when I think how very, very different the last 7 years would have been if Barack Obama had been president on 9/11.

Anyway, here's to change!
