Last night for some unknown reason I had not only the scenario but the actual music of "Timothy" -- written by Rupert Holmes (who also wrote "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)") and performed by a one-hit wonder band called The Buoys -- running through my head for what seemed like hours on end. A nightmare to end all nightmares, methinks.

So I go to do a little research, and I pull up the lyrics on the site linked from the Wikipedia entry, and what should appear in the "Sponsored Links" but an ad for Florida orange juice under the title "Food Pyramid". ;-)

I suppose the moral of this little tale is that these are times when we find humor where we can just to keep from screaming.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with this song.
It does stay with you for days...

I remember asking coworkers about that song... "do you remember that pop song about cannibalism?"

People thought I was nuts - so I purchased it from a 70s collection, and they all remembered it, but never thought about the words...

I also remember the author claiming that it wasn't about cannibalism because Timothy was a donkey. Yeah, okay... what part of the song mentions that?

According to Wikipedia it wasn't the composer that made that claim (that Timothy was a mule), it was the record label. When asked directly, Holmes kept the pot boiling by denying that claim and insisting that Timothy was human.
