Random musings...

  • Last weekend we went to a campground in northern Pennsylvania with some of the Empire Bears. One of our officers did the cooking for the wiener roast and was bombarded by requests to put the hot dogs on the grill at just such an angle so the lines would be just so. He replied, "I'm not taking any more advice from queens." I answered back, "Maybe you should be taking advice from Brooklyn instead." ;-)

  • I've been a bit under the weather the middle of this past week. Nothing too terribly serious, but the common cold can wear on you. On returning to work on Friday after three days out sick, I told my cow-orkers* "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." ;-)

  • The Lake Ontario Bear Rendezvous 2002 is now done, and I know I had a good time as did at least most of the other folks who came. Got a chance to meet [livejournal.com profile] hylandr and some other folks from the Buffalo area, and to hang out with our friends from Toronto who, while they may not be on LJ themselves, are certainly mentioned in these parts with some frequency because of their friends and neighbors who are.

  • This afternoon I participated, with the Rochester Gay Men's Chorus, in what is called a "Prism Concert" at the Eastman Theater here in Rochester. Basically, about a dozen choral groups are placed in strategic spots all around the auditorium and on stage, and each sings a song or two. We sang the Ave Maria by Franz Biebl. (I remarked before the concert, "Biebls bobble, but they don't fall down." ;-) It is a very pretty piece chosen because we have performed it on a number of occasions so we can make it sound good with minimal rehearsal. At the end all the performers and the audience chimed in on America the Beautiful.

* This is not a typo. Disclaimer: Orking cows is dangerous, and illegal in the state of Utah.
