Calgary Trip Day 4: Saturday

Since Gary hadn't slept well, I figured I'd let him sleep in when the alarm went off at 7, sitting with my feet up in the other room until 9ish. We hurried to breakfast and came back to the room to plan the day.

Caught an Uber to Saddletowne C-train station and rode that downtown, changed to a Red Line train (this time going the same direction) to Banff Trail station, and on to McMahon Stadium for the Stampeders vs. the Blue Bombers. We arrived about 15 minutes before the gates opened, found the right side of the stadium and lined up to enter. Our seats were quite some way up so it was a bit of a slog. Just before the game got underway I picked up a couple of drinks and some pizza (two pieces for me and one for Gary) for our lunch. People came trickling in to sit in our area until well after the game started.

The couple a few seats down our row were really having a great time, he a leaner, bearish dude around late forties to mid fifties, and she perhaps marginally younger and far more animated in her Daisy Dukes. They brought brownie bites which she insisted we have some, and at one point she climbed up on a seat and lost her balance, and if Gary hadn't caught her she might well have rolled down another row or two and done herself some serious damage. Gary overheard a possible reason she may have needed a little distraction: a family member was seriously ill. The couple directly in front of us were both big, he in his authentic jersey and ball cap and she in her cowgirl hat. There were also quite a few hot, bearded young dudes around us.

Fill in game details from CFL.ca here.

After the game we picked up a couple of Stamps hats and a cowbell to add to our collection. Then we made the trek back to the C-train station, passing an actual player, possibly Brad Erdos, with his family meeting and greeting folks outside the locker room building; and also a gaggle of young men who definitely set off my gaydar and led to a remark to Gary, "Well, it *is* Family Day, and they're definitely family." I briefly considered staying in the area between the stadium and the station for dinner, but realized every one of the restaurants would be mobbed, so instead we decided to eat downtown. Just outside the station we were serenaded by a tall, dark-bearded, kilted otter on the bagpipes.

When we'd boarded the inbound train, I sat down while Gary hung onto the center pole as a rather weathered dude of indeterminate age cheered at the Stamps' victory and eventually perched on the other side. He admired my Roughnecks lacrosse hat. As Gary noted, harmless. We left the train at Centre Street station and ended up walking all the way down Stephen Ave to the Bankers Hall. Unfortunately the food court there was closed, but the one in the adjacent Core mall had a Japanese place where we grabbed dinner. I had the yakisoba combo (chicken and beef) which I couldn't finish after all the pizza, while Gary had a bowl of ramen noodle soup.

While we were eating, the place closed up. We made our way downstairs and caught the train back to Saddletowne. After a stop at Shoppers' Drug Mart for supplies to treat my leg and do laundry, I called us another Uber and the driver, Manpreet, was very hot-looking with a thick black beard. After we got back to the hotel, I pulled off the bandage, cleaned the wound on my leg, and put antibiotic cream and a gauze pad on it; Gary wrapped it with rolled gauze for me, then did laundry while I planned the next day's excursion to Banff and we had the night CFL game from BC on (which Saskatchewan won).
