Of computer crap, bear contests, etc.

Okay, I guess I'll fill y'all in on the ups and downs of the day. ;-)

Computer crap: First off, I wasn't sure my color printer was going to work when I needed to make certificates for our bear contest this evening (about which more later). But it went better than I anticipated, all I needed to do was replace the ink cartridges. Kewl.

Flush with that success, I went to check our club e-mail account and found we can't seem to get our mail delivered to two of our members because the ISP they use keeps rejecting our messages. So I sent their postmaster a message asking what was up, and of course that bounced too. OK, I thought, there should be some method of contacting them on their Web site, and there was -- there's a fill-in form for their tech support. After filling it in, I was quite pissed to find they don't accept mail from there either unless you are a customer of theirs. Bastards. So as a last resort I sent the message as "feedback to the Webmaster". Let's hope somebody is working on it -- I'm at the point where I'm saying "dont make me go over there".

Bear contests: There has been a great deal of traffic on the Bears Mailing List accusing some folks of taking these contests just a bit too seriously. I don't think ours is in any danger of that, however. I would be there now, but a gay bar is no place to be if you have even a hint of 'the trots' as I do at the moment (ah, this too shall pass, so to speak ;-). But I'm sure the other guys will have a great time at it.

By the way, the music is from Lord of the Fries -- a bunch of parodies (political and otherwise) by the Capitol Steps (for those of you in the Great White North, they're the US equivalent of the Royal Canadian Air Farce).
