The Vatican has secretly issued a statement to its representatives around the world that it will not recognize gender changes in baptismal records, nor will it allow transgendered people to marry or be ordained. In short, it denies the very existence of transgendered people in the church.

A friend who sent the story along to the Dignity-Integrity/Rochester e-mailing list added the comment: "Finally a word from the Vatican about our trans brothers and sisters and, surprise, surprise, it's about as enlightened as everything else that seems to come out of that place these days."

Read together with the first part of this entry from thaaang and several recent postings on the BML in reference to a FTM transgendered person (in transition) who identifies as a Bear, it occurred to me that these are yet more people whose lives are invalidated and discarded by the Church. And that to me is greater evil than that which the Church accuses them of.

Whatever happened to "love thy neighbor" and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? Seriously.

And people wonder why so many people are changing to paganism. It's actually a lot more positive. Not about bashing and putting other people down like Christianity does.

Plus, it's not as sexually stifling. *evil grin*
